Late Winter... Early Spring...

Winter... Spring... Fall then Spring then... Its enough to drive your metabolism crazy! I tell people I like living in the country in the Midwest because you get to see all four seasons... But all in one month? Summer... yesterday, a brisk Fall morning today, and Spring, kind of this afternoon... Cool Spring with rain showers this weekend, and then what?
Each day... that's what! Each day is another chance to learn the love of the Father... I was reminded of that very thing today...
Reminded that friends, family and acquaintances are divine encounters... and then there is the stranger... divine...

The thing about Parables, is...

Parables aren't threatening, nor are they condemning.
Jesus talked to the people in parables, for a way to reach them and teach them the ways of
God, and how our "attitudes-are-to-be" (Beatitudes")! Mathew 5.
'Since "the Word of God is living and active today..." Hebrews 4:12, the parables of Jesus are just as pertinent today as ever.
It isn't fair to think that the disciples "got it" right off... they didn't. They asked Jesus to explain to them the meanings. Jesus said that, to them it was given an explanation, but to the people, He left it to prick their hearts and make them search for the meaning. He would say... "to him who has ears let him hear what the Word is saying..." which I believe anyone following Jesus in their heart today will have ears to hear.
With the Word living in your heart, and actively doing its work of sanctification, life can be seen through "parable glasses!"
If life gets confusing, ask for clarification! We walk through parables every day, and if you converse with the Father, He will give to His child.
If you're wondering what "walking with Jesus" means... its just this... the Spirit is a very near help in time of need... reach out and ask the question, what ever it is. The Father yearns to converse with you. You can talk to Him just like you would talk to a friend...face to face... like Moses did. He is waiting, He's there all day and into the night...
Have you ever said anything under your breath out loud... good or bad, and thought how funny that is... there's no one around... well there is someone... God hears every careless word we utter (and will some day give an account for...) Mathew 12:36, so why not make the most of it?
Start now... talk to God for one day as if he's right next to you... in the car, at work, everywhere.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you... that's a promise! James 4:8
Bless you!

Sparrows neither Toil nor do they Spin...

Well, here it is... February 11th 2011!

Home today with a bum shoulder. Watching the ebbs of Winter give way to hints of Spring. Getting ready to start a fire and watching out the window at the Sparrows rooting around for food. For a few weeks now, we've witnessed the return of the birds, mostly Cardinals until the last few days, scurrying around from branch to ground in hopes of some small morsel of sustenance.
All at once, out of the corner of my eye I caught a strange glimpse of frantic winging near a window. A Sparrow had come down the chimney sensing heat escaping the house through the open flue.
Birds lose their bearings when confined and tend to panic quickly. Many years ago, my wife discovered the way to retrieve our friendly winged intruders, and escort them out! Just let the bird settle down with you out of site for a while, and approach them slowly with the bristle end of a broom held out in the air.
God gave birds the innate need to perch, and after a bit, they'll perch on the broom and you can slowly take them to the door!
I was reaching for the broom when, the Still Small Voice in my heart said... try Me... he wants out, so just make a way. I went and opened the sliding patio door near him and opened it to the frigid outdoor air. I hid around the corner until the bird was between me and the door. I was then urged in my spirit to gently coax him aloud, while moving slowly toward the door. This precious little fella went to the threshold and looked out... and then at me... looked out again and took off!
Matthew 6:26
"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor do they gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?"
When the anxious thoughts of this life's trials get the best of you, remember this!
